Hello!
I am a Certified Recovery and Life Coach. I am the Executive Director of a trauma-informed Recovery Center in Vermont. I am a dedicated-though-hilariously-imperfect mother to three young adults, two boys and a girl. I am someone who has done and continues to do extensive healing and work on myself. I help people transform their lives, including my own, every single day.
If you are ready to take steps toward healing, goal setting, or trying to make sense of yourself, your relationships, and your life, you are in the right place. I’ve been there. First, I suggest you read the books I have written. They are the best jumpstart you can immediately give yourself. If you are ready to take a deeper dive into your healing, working with me will transform your life and help you set and accomplish your goals. I offer coaching for the specific purpose of reconstructing your life and developing tools to help you overcome what has held you back. We work through my book and study the concepts of attachment theory, healing the inner child, and the important connection of polyvagal, nervous system healing to overall emotional and mental health.
My Story
When I started my healing journey, I felt very alone. Breaking out of my old life has taken a commitment to therapy and research, and the discipline to stick with those things. This website and my books sum up everything I have learned and continue to learn. I have the foundation to help you find resources and support in one meaningful place.
One client recently wrote on my website that “‘Break UP’ is a distillation of about 20 classic books and a whole host of spiritual teachings. It’s literally like the Cliff Notes to 20 years of study and learning. It’s fearless and incredibly authentic.” (Michael Stewart- Annapolis, MD)
I am here to help you find your strength.
In 2016, I divorced my husband of seventeen years and changed everything about how I live my life, raise my kids, and make a living. I started trusting myself, telling the truth, and being real. I turned away from constant people pleasing and apologizing. I did an about-face, straight toward understanding myself, my parenting, my relationship needs, and who I really wanted to be but didn’t believe I could become. It was horrible and awful and awesome all at the same time. My kids are teenagers and young adults now, all three of them. Not only do they love me, they actually like me. Even better and more important than that, they like and love themselves. They have barometers for truth and bullshit, and are truly on their way to being stable and secure adults. Why? Because we live real, and I have healed and continue to heal out loud. Does it get messy sometimes? But that is what living and loving well is- learning how to navigate mess and come out stronger every time.
After my divorce in 2016, I began researching trauma, attachment, and polyvagal theory, healing myself, and transforming my life. I became a Certified Recovery Coach and a Certified Life Coach and accepted the position of Executive Director of a Recovery Center. In 2020, with all that Covid time, I put together a simple a step-by-step guide for people who are trying to understand toxic relationships, understand unhealthy patterns of behavior, and learn how to stop repeating the same painful cycles in life. I wrote this book because I wanted to detail the actions I took to heal my childhood trauma, my relationship trauma, and my dysfunctional patterns of behavior. actions which have transformed my life. I put these steps in one easy-to-read place so you can transform your life too. As a single working mom with a lot to manage, I created a concise and clear roadmap for you to follow. This book shows you exactly what I did to heal and claim my worth, for real. I want you to feel as good as I do today too.
I hope you will give yourself the gift of buying this book, or coaching with me, and take the chance to start the next chapter of your life with the wisdom to stop repeating the negative patterns that hold you back. You are worth it and everything is possible. It is a workbook, so it will end up being your very own manual, personal to what YOU need.
The next book I wrote is specific to substance use, and is also a workbook style, so you can make it your own. For the past three years, I have been working on the frontlines helping people at the very darkest bottom of addiction. For most of my life I have been surrounded by addiction- hence my wildly codependent and people-pleasing tendencies! This book is a compilation of everything that actually works. I was tired of scrambling around to piecemeal addiction resources for my clients, so I wrote a manual based on real-time techniques that WORK. This book works; it is proven, we use it every day for all different kinds of people with all different kinds of addictions. If you are ready to understand what drives you back to that substance over and over again, buy this book and get the relief you have been so desperately searching for. This will help you. Get the book and follow the guidance. It is a workbook, so this roadmap will become yours. The beauty of it, is that no two paths are the same. This workbook allows for that. If you want to stop drinking or using, if you need help, you buy this book right now.
I started the blog on this site for fun and to share information and ideas. I like to share what I’m going through, because I think in the darkest times we all can feel really alone, but we aren’t. We all face hard things every day, and as much as I write to help you all feel less alone, I write my stories to help myself feel less alone, too. I am proud of how I live today, and I think the choices I make, though sometimes hard, are worth it. Why? Because I am happy, or on the path of figuring it out. My kids are thriving. They have watched me live my life seeking purpose and meaning and finding security through that, rather than in spite of it. Now they know it’s possible for them to find a life of purpose, meaning, love, and security, too.
